Nicaragua - airline and flight information
Fortunately, because of its increasing popularity, it is becoming much easier to travel to Nicaragua from most parts of the world.
The busiest airport is in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. If you are traveling from North America, then you will be routed through one of the following cities: Houston, Miami, or San Salvador (capital of El Salvador).
The two main airlines that fly from these cities are American Airlines and Continental. So your best bet is to catch a flight to either Miami or Houston, and then direct on to Managua.
If you live in Europe, then Iberia Airlines has a flight to Miami with connections to Managua.
There are also the Latin American airlines, including TACA and LACSA which fly from Miami to Managua.
Tip: when comparing costs and schedules,
if possible, look at alternate departure
cities than the one you live in or near.
Sometimes, it can be significantly cheaper
to depart from another airport that is not
too far from where you live.
Once you reach Managua, there are several in-country airlines that can take you to your ultimate destination, for example, TACA offers one of the larger domestic air services.
It is important to note that all foreign travelers entering Nicaragua are automatically given a visa which is good for three months. There are exceptions to this rule however, so please ensure that you have checked your government website for the most up-to-date details.
When you arrive at Managua Airport, you will be required to pay a US $7 entrance fee, and to have a valid passport, as well as an onward/return air ticket.
And, when you are leaving Nicaragua, you must pay a US $30 airport tax in cash only.
